HOW CAN I PREVENT TOILET CLOGS?

If a person’s toilet is being clogged on a regular basis, there are two factors that need to be checked for. The first is whether or not enough water is being used for flushing. Some low flow toilets that are designed to save water do not use enough water to adequately flush the entire contents of the toilet bowl. These toilets may need to have water added manually or to be upgraded so that they no longer conserve water. The second factor that needs to be looked at is whether or not members of a household are flushing items that should not be flushed, including tampons and pads, diapers, or other materials that are not toilet paper. Toilet paper should be the only thing that is flushed down a toilet because it has been designed to break down quickly. It is also important to not flush an excessive amount of toilet paper.

WHAT ARE SOME WATER HEATER PROBLEMS?

There are a few common issues that might arise with regards to the water heater. If the water has an unusual color, ordinarily that of rust, then it means that the water tank is degrading because of overexposure to the water. To resolve this issue, a person simply needs to have the tank re-coated with a protective sealant, or replaced.

Another problem is if the water smells bad. It will ordinarily smell of rotten-eggs when this problem surfaces and indicates that there is a buildup of bacteria in the water. If this should occur, the tank needs to be thoroughly cleaned and checked to make sure that there are no blockages.
The third problem is if there is not enough hot water being produced. The tank might simply not be big enough to hold all of the hot water, it could also be a result of water not getting to the tank in a timely manner. If this is the case, then the distribution system needs to be checked for blockages.

WHAT IS CONSIDERED A PLUMBING EMERGENCY?

Basically any issue that results in a person’s plumbing system not working can be considered an emergency. Small problems can easily turn into larger issues that will cause a lot of damage and be expensive to repair. Any issue that inconveniences a person in any way diminishes his or her quality of life and need to be resolved immediately.
